Crystal Mullen -Johnson is the CEO/Founder of Strive Counseling Services located in downtown Birmingham, AL. She is an award winning therapist. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Private Independent Practitioner and a Registered Play Therapist. She is the CEO/founder of Nurture, LLC, a mental health nonprofit that offers support groups, counseling service and mental health programs in the Birmingham community.

She has more than 16 years of experience providing mental health counseling to individuals and families. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master’s Degree in Social Work at Alabama A&M University.

She has also been featured as an expert contributor in The Birmingham Times and AL.Com publication. She has been featured as an expert contributor on the Ricky Smiley morning show. She was a mental health contributing writer for Birmingham Times. 

She was recognized by Birmingham Times as 1 of 200 Front Line Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

She also was recognized by the Mayor’s Office during the #StrongHer Campaign as a game changer for Birmingham promoting Mental Health.  

Crystal Mullen-Johnson is the founder of Nurture, a book club that aims to  empower women to read, gain knowledge and connect socially to discuss relevant topics. She served on a local nonprofit board, United Dreamers Foundation that focuses on providing at risk students mentoring services, scholarships and benevolence; and she’s a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She served on STREAM Innovation advisory council. She is a native of Demopolis, AL.  

She is the author of the author of the "21 Day Journey to Strive for a Healthier You."

In her leisure, she enjoys reading, golfing, exercising, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She is passionate about providing helpful resources for the community to learn more about the importance of mental health awareness and wellness. She enjoys serving in the community to promote change. She has a 14 year old son, Ethan Johnson and a Labradoodle, Prince Johnson.
