Crystal Mullen -Johnson is the CEO/Founder of Strive Counseling Services located in downtown Birmingham, AL. She’s a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Private Independent Practitioner and a Registered Play Therapist. She has more than 16 years of experience providing mental health counseling to individuals and families. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Master’s Degree in Social Work at Alabama A&M University. She has also been featured as an expert contributor in The Birmingham Times and AL.Com publication.
She was recognized by the City of Birmingham as 1 of 200 Front Line Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
She also was recognized by the Mayor’s Office during the #StrongHer Campaign as a game changer for Birmingham promoting Mental Health.
Crystal Mullen-Johnson is the founder of Nurture, a book club that aims to empower women to read, gain knowledge and connect socially to discuss relevant topics. She served on a local nonprofit board, United Dreamers Foundation that focuses on providing at risk students mentoring services, scholarships and benevolence; and she’s a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She is a native of Demopolis, AL.
In her leisure, she enjoys reading, exercising, traveling and spending time with family/friends. She is passionate about providing helpful resources for the community to learn more about the importance of mental health awareness and wellness. She enjoys serving in the community to promote change. She has a 11 year old son, Ethan Johnson and a Labradoodle, Prince Johnson.
