About the Event

Strive Counseling Services in partnership with the City of Birmingham Mayor's Office, Division of Youth Services and Bradford Health Services will host Session II of the City of Birmingham's Community Mental Health Awareness Initiative 2020 Summer Series.

Session II: Each Mind Matters: "Social Media and the Drug Culture: Keeping Kids Safe Online" will be facilitated by Rachel Lawley, M.ED. ALC, NCC.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learners will be educated on the potential risk factors and warning signs along with ways to combat use as well as identifying protective factors.

2. Learners will learn about the most commonly used drugs and ways they are influenced by social media.

3. Learners will explore popular drug cultures and ways it is influenced by social media. Electronic addictions and the ways that these addictions are similar to substance use disorders.
