Strive Counseling Services in partnership with the City of Birmingham Mayor's Office, Division of Youth Services and Bradford Health Services will host Session III of the City of Birmingham's Community Mental Health Awareness Initiative 2020 Summer Series.

Session III: 

"Cultivating Resilience: How to prepare for 20/21 school year in response to COVID-19."

Presentors: 

Mrs. Courtney Nelson - Director of Social Emotional Learning, Birmingham City Schools and

Dr. Leesha Ellis-Cox - MD, MPH, LLC, Board-Certified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist

Learning Objectives:

1. Learners will identify signs and symptoms of emotional distress in students.

2. Learners will design individual and classroom activities that incorporate resilience-building tools.

3. Learners  will leave with the knowledge to advocate on behalf of their entire family regarding the social emotional services and supports available to them through their child's school as well as community agencies.

3. Learners will leave with the understanding of how to work with their scholars to prepare them for adjusting to their new normal in education.
